Ok, so it doesn't really count as a Parkrun personal best if it's your first time out, but the lure of corny alliteration was too much to resist!
It was great to see veteran two time Town and Gown Champion, Peter Brackett, once again competing in the black and white stripes of the IWCA AC, completing his first Oxford Parkrun in a competitive time of 21:44, making 12th place out of a field of 78 runners.
It was also good to see Peter's brother, IWCA coach and Woodstock Harriers runner Paul, back out there after six months off due to excruciating pain from a reoccurring back problem.
Though Paul has put a brave face on it, we can only imagine how frustrating it must have been for a man who eats sleeps and breathes running to be forced to take time out in his prime, 53rd year. His time at this week's Cutteslowe Park 5k time trial of 24:16 is some way off his excellent PB of 20:44, but it is an impressive effort all the same after so much time off, so let's hope this is an encouraging portent for next season.
