Thank you to all those who helped make this year's Blackbird Leys Mile the outstanding event that it was.
Although we had more people sign up in advance to run this year, on the day the number of runners was slightly down on last year - presumably due to the very hot weather, but the event as a whole was very much bigger in terms of voluteers and spectators, so we are confident that it will continue to go from strength to strength.
This year the BBL Mile was preceeded by an Under 5's 100 metres sprint in which a dozen enthusiastic little ones took part - though one or two had to be steered towards the finish line after nunning off in the direction of cheering parents!
Despite the heat - which was a stark contrast to the driving rain that marked the 2012 BBL Mile, the first four competitors managed to break the course record, with winner, Jamie Brackett, storming home in an impressive 5 minutes flat, with plenty still left in the tank.
The black and whites stripes of the IWCA AC appeared twice in the top three slots with Peter Brackett taking the Veteran's trophy and Shawn Merry lifting the Under 17's award at the presentation over at the Pegasus School Horticultural Show which also drew record crowds this year.
