All three IWCA AC runners performed very well at this year's Watlington Skyline 10 Mile race.
Stuart Craft crossed the finish line in 18th place with a time of 1:20:59, Peter Wright, in his first 10 miler, finished 21st with a commendable time of 1:22:03 and Mark Franks, who ran a season's PB at last weekend's Windsor Half-Marathon and who took part in yesterday's Parkrun 5k, finished 26th in 1:24:16 - a very respectable time considering that Mark has only recently taken up cross country/hill running after having spent the previous few years as a road runner favouring half-marathons.
The event was the well organised, friendly affair that we've come to expect from the Watlington XC team and at a fiver registration fee with a free post race pint thrown in at the local pub, this is the best value for money event in Oxfordshire. The weather was ideal and the course challenging but well worth the effort for the breath-taking views along the Chiltern Hills and beech woods. All in all it was a great morning out and we look forward to our next visit.
Thanks to Peter and Angela for the lift and and for their unstinting support. Thanks also to Andrew Craft who turned up to cheer the lads on despite the disappointment of not being able to run himself due to injury.
The next Watlington event is the Watlington Winter 10K which will be held on Sunday 14th December at 10.30am. We hope to see you there.
