Well done to the IWCA AC’s Mark Franks who gained his personal best 10k time of 46:13 at today’s
Charlgrove Festival 10k - which attracted a record 459 participants. Stuart Craft came in 30 seconds behind his time last effort at the race two years ago, with a respectable time of 44:54. Peter Wright, who has just recovered from a bought of the flu started well but became ill around the 7k mark, Even so, despite being physically sick he persevered and gained a very decent time of 47:26 only 30 seconds off his previous best time achieved at last year’s event.
The hot weather that contributed to a great family festival atmosphere made hard work of the course but our hill training at Garsington and the Baldons paid off, allowing us to make easy work of the infamous Charlgrove double hill at the 7k mark. That said we were all very happy to see the finish line and even happier to see the inside of the beer tent and a couple of pints of good old Oxfordshire ale to put us right again!
