Well done to all the volunteers and runners at the Oxford Sport Relief Mile, 3 Mile and 6 Mile races at Cutteslowe Park this morning. Though this was a fun and friendly family based event where the taking part was much more important than the results, it was good to see our 17 runners give a good account of themselves.
Even after a game of football prior to the race, Peter stormed home to take first place in the 3 Mile race and Mark managed a close third in the 1 Miler.
Despite using various dirty tricks including cutting through the pack using Archie the Bernese Mountain Dog as a battering ram and shoving the odd child off the path and into the bushes out of his way, Stuart still finished some way behind the front runners. He blames the dog who decide to grind to a halt a mile or so into the race to unceremoniously squat down to relieve himself in the middle of the course!
The nature of the event encouraged a rare, but welcome appearance from a few of our fun-runners who ran, walked or toddled around the course enjoying the occasion despite the cold weather.
Thanks to Peter, Angela, Louis, Debbie, Sigita and Emmy for providing transport.
We hope to be back at Cutteslowe Park for the weekly Parkrun 5k time trials and other fun and games in the coming weeks
