Checkatrade Trophy final
March 8, 2017
BBL IWCA members and supporters have divided opinions on whether the Checkatrade Trophy final should be boycotted though most will be attending the game on April 2nd. However we have great respect for those making a principled stand in the name of fair treatment for lower league clubs. Dylan Craft is a diehand Oxford fan who will be boycotting the game.
Here he explains why:
'Last Wednesday the team I have been supporting all my life made it to Wembley in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy final. As much as this filled me with joy it also put me in a situation where I am forced to miss my beloved team play at the home of English football.
This is a competiton which introduced B teams and Under 23 teams into a football league trophy, and could be the cause of them entering the football pyramid. This could effect the lower league teams such as my club long term which why I refuse to support it.
I have always been taught that you stick to what you believe in and that is what I will do come April 2nd. I hope Oxford lift that trophy and all the fans have a great day out because that is what they deserve, but I for one will not support such bully boy tactics by the FA!
Just remember football without fans is nothing.
